Sonic Bloom: A Glasto hideaway with NATURE

The EarthPercent and Sounds Right teams had the honour of co-creating and presenting ‘Sonic Bloom’: a haven of living plants and reclaimed speakers with NATURE the main headliner at Glastonbury Festival 2025. The garden was hidden amongst the allotments in Shangri La, in Glasto’s famous party district in the South East Corner, and was conceived of as part of the area’s new theme ‘The Wilding’. Sonic Bloom is a living garden installation curated and cared for by the Shangri-La team off-season, designed to grow and evolve and return to Glastonbury over the next five years.

Sonic Bloom shone a spotlight on the Sounds Right project, led by Museum for the UN - UN Live, and allowed festival-goers a chance to listen and engage with NATURE, who was launched as an official musical artist by Sounds Right in April 2024. Everyone who entered was given their own set of headphones (donated by Super Silent Discos) and provided a moment’s relaxation and reflection to listen to NATURE’s ecosystem sounds and a selection of tracks by human artists featuring NATURE.

Punters absolutely loved it, with many coming back multiple times with different groups of friends. One attendee said they were “about to have a panic attack before they came in and calmed down” and countless commented on how peaceful and needed it was.

This very special new space was featured in The Guardian, on the Royal Horticultural Society website, in Wallpaper Magazine and many more - people were absolutely loving using it as an oasis of calm amongst the revelry!

Sonic Bloom was built and designed with love by Mak from The Edible Bus Stop and Kaye Dunnings of Shangri La with technical design support from Will Sandy, and funded and made possible by the Museum for the UN Live, with plants and soil donated by Oxalis Design Studio and Durstons. Thank you to the wonderful volunteers and EarthPercent team for bringing it to life over the course of the show: Becky Young, Vicky Le Lerre, Nick Wells, Edit Spaudo, Lauren Noyes, Amy Crothers and Titus Copley-Smith.
